I hope each of you have had a wonderful holiday season. I seriously am having trouble believing that the end of 2009 is upon us. It seems like the year dragged on and on until October, and then it just flew by.
I have spent a lot of fun time with my wonderful husband and children the past couple of weeks. I think most of you know I was a music education major in college and then later taught for a while. Well, I was put in charge of the music for the children’s program at my uncle’s church. I had such a great time! It made me almost miss teaching. Almost being the key word there. LOL
My full kids’ bell ensemble played “Joy To The World” and did quite well for the most part. The older three kids in the group (my oldest son and two of Lacey/Dark Pheonix’s kids) played “Angels We Have Heard on High”, and they did an awesome job! The kids also sang a few carols and did a reenactment of the nativity. It was really sweet to watch them.
This was the first year that some of the kids were given speaking parts. They were given to them only a week before the performance, so my uncle decided they would just read them off of the paper to make it easier for them. Cassie and Jacob informed me on the way to the performance that they knew their parts by heart. Jacob’s was fairly short (he was a shepherd), so I figured he likely did, and sure enough, he even performed it without his paper. Shocking! He was not the least bit nervous either! Cassie’s part was much longer. She was the angel that appeared to Joseph. I thought for sure she was just being competitive and saying she knew the part by heart, but sure enough, she did indeed have it memorized. Unbelievable! She did decide to use the paper when her moment on stage arrived, but even so, I was still surprised. I wasn’t positive that her nerves wouldn’t take over. Guess the performance desire comes naturally to them.
Cassie has now decided that she would like to be an actress, maybe even on Broadway. LOL Guess we shall see what happens there.
